Who is Sophia Paradela?
Since a young age, I found a passion for marketing through the entertainment industry and my volunteer work. Marketing was greatly used to spread word of mouth of the nonprofit through public relations and digital media. Through the entertainment industry, I learned how movies, musicians, and television shows were marketed. As I got older, I realized there was so much more to marketing than just what I was exposed to. In high school, I took a couple of business courses to expand my knowledge in the business world. It was those courses that inspired me to pursue a degree in business.
While working on my Associate of Arts at Miami Dade College, I was Vice President and Director of Community Service of Phi Beta Lambda. I also interned with M.N.G. Communications and Amigos for Kids. I learned all about the world of business/nonprofit marketing and increased my knowledge about brand marketing. I also completed a Digital Marketing Certification course at Miami Dade College.
In August 2016, I transferred to the University of Central Florida where I am currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing. Here, I discovered my love for hospitality marketing. In the Fall of 2017, I interned at the Gaylord Palms & Convention Center for their ICE! event. I learned so much about how a hotel and event operate on a day-to-day basis. I recently finished an internship with Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits where I learned about the adult-beverage industry and hospitality marketing.
Today, I am a senior with plans of graduating the University of Central Florida in May 2018. I am serving as the Director of Community Service for the Society of Marketing Professional Services UCF Chapter. I am the Team Captain for SMPS Knight-Thon, UCF’s largest student-run philanthropy. During my free time, I enjoy traveling to different places, volunteering and reading about inspirational women, like Sheryl Sandberg, Sophia Amuroso, and Reese Witherspoon. I hope to pursue a career in brand marketing in either the entertainment or hospitality industry after graduation.
